General Information About Elephant Bedroom Camp
The surrounding Samburu National Reserve is an area of spectacular scenery; its dry plains bisected by the meandering river, with the backdrop of Africa’s dramatic mountains, including Mt Kenya. The 14 spacious tents have rustic and colourful African touches, offering all the comforts; including a private plunge pool on the deck, hot and cold running water, electricity (and complimentary herbal shower and bath products.)
The lounge and dining area is decorated with vibrant safari style, its soft intimate lighting assuring that this is the ultimate place to relax in between exciting game drives. Elephant, Monkeys, Impalas are amongst the camp’s many regular wild visitors, whilst Samburu National Reserve has a good number of lions and leopards and offers the opportunity to see many species endemic to northern Kenya.
Depart Nairobi on the 45 minute scheduled morning or afternoon flight from Wilson Airport to the Masai Mara. Touch down in this magnificent wilderness and your guide will be there to greet you before setting out across the plains where you will have your first wildlife sighting en-route to camp.
Rise early with tea or coffee brought to your tent then set off fast the sun rises for a wilderness awakening game drive. The verdant plains host a fabulous array of plains game such as gazelles‚ impala‚ buffalo‚ zebra‚ wildebeest and land. Never far away are the predators such as lion‚ cheetah‚ leopard and hyena.
Go for games drives or you may wish to enjoy an escorted game walk from camp. Transfer on your final journey across the plains to the airstrip for your flight back to Nairobi at 1100hrs.
